Placenta Abruptio

Placenta abruptio is the separation of the placenta from the uterus before a baby is delivered. It usually happens in the third trimester of pregnancy, but it sometimes occurs earlier.

It may cause the baby to be born prematurely or at a low birth weight. And it may cause the mother to have serious bleeding. In rare cases, it can be deadly for the mother, the baby, or both.
