Bypass Risks

Graph showing the risks from bypass surgery

Complication rates in hospitals show that people who have bypass surgery have the risk of several problems from the surgery. For example, out of every 100 people who have bypass surgery, about 1 could have a deep infection of the chest incision; 2 to 6 might have kidney problems; 1 to 4 could have a stroke; and 1 to 5 could die from the surgery.
