Study Finds Carbon Stable Isotope Values Yield Different Dietary Associations with Added Sugars in Children Compared to Adults
Added sugars are linked to many unfavorable health outcomes. At the same time, carbon stable-isotope biomarkers of added sugar consumption show promise for understanding links with health outcomes in adults. However, findings in a Monell Center - Temple University study calls into question the interpretation of carbon stable-isotope values in hair among children, suggesting that values may not yield as straightforward of results as have been reported in adults.
